HBO has revealed the first teaser trailer for ‘The Last of Us,’ the series adaptation of the video game of the same name, on the special occasion of The Last of Us Day. HBO has confirmed that the show will premiere sometime in 2023, but currently, it doesn't have a premiere date.

The teaser includes Hank Williams’ “Alone and Forsaken” song playing in the background while we see some gruesome zombies as the lead survivors Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) fight for their life. The trailer ends with some more creepy footage, which includes skulls and dead bodies lying on the ground as Ellie says "Save who you can save."

The plot is set twenty years after modern society has been destroyed and is based on Naughty Dog's highly acclaimed video game "The Last of Us," which was developed exclusively for Sony's PlayStation® platforms. The series follows Joel, a seasoned survivor, who is paid to transport 14-year-old Ellie out of a restrictive quarantine zone. What begins as a little job quickly turns into a terrible, devastating trip as they both must travel across the United States and rely on each other for survival.

The Last of Us stars also stars Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nick Offerman as Bill, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry,  Elaine Miles as Florence, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker in an unspecified role.

“The Last of Us” series is created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who are also executive producers alongside Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, Sony Pictures, and Naughty Dog are the producers of the series. The series wrapped up production in June this year after shooting for almost a year.
