Korean Series ‘Remarriage & Desires’ Confirms Cast & Begins Production at Netflix

Netflix has revealed the cast and confirmed the start of filming for its upcoming Korean series, “Remarriage & Desires.”  The satirical series about the desire-driven Korean society has confirmed Kim Hee-seon, Lee Hyun-wook, Jung Eugene, Park Hoon, and Cha Ji-yeon in the cast.

“Remarriage & Desires” is a satire of desire-driven Korean society. Set at the prestigious matchmaking firm Rex, which caters to society's upper crust, ambitious souls strive to elevate their status by marrying or remarrying into the ranks of the elite. They want to meet someone from the “Black” tier, the highest category consisting of the top 0.001 percent of the population.

Kim Hee-seon, who has been in dramas like Alice, The Lady in Dignity, and Angry Mom, reprises her role as Seo Hye-seung, a middle-class housewife from Gangnam who loses everything in an instant. She meets Jin Yoo-hui at Rex, who is responsible for turning Hye-seung's life upside down. She enters a race motivated by a desire to meet someone from the Black tier.

Lee Hyun-wook, whose recent performance in Mine wowed audiences, plays Lee Hyung-ju, a self-made man and the chairman of a venture capital company. His personal assets are in the billions, putting him in the “Black” tier and making him a bachelor sought after by ambitious women. Hyung-ju intends to move on from the failure of his first marriage and find a new partner who will be a better match for him.

Jung Eugene, well known for his roles in the dramas Something in the Rain and Romance Is a Bonus Book, plays Jin Yoo-hui, a hotshot corporate lawyer who will go to any length to reach the upper echelons of society.

Park Hoon made his name as an actor in Descendants of the Sun as First Sergeant Choi Woo-geun, and he has since gone on to star in the drama Memories of Alhambra and the film Midnight. Park portrays Cha Seok-jin, Hye-seung's first love. He is also at odds with Choi Yoo-sun over his father's enormous fortune.

Cha Ji-yeon, who has performed in several musicals, dramas, and films, takes on the role of Choi Yoo-sun, an influential person who is the CEO of Rex. She has a pool of Korea's most eligible, top-of-the-line bachelors.

Writer Lee Geun young, who penned the dramas I’m the Mother, Too and My Mother is a Daughter-in-law, and Producer Kim Jung-min of Love Affair In The Afternoon and Bad Guys helm this razor-sharp representation of the hypergamy market where money and power reign supreme over love. Tiger Studio and Image9 Communications oversee production.

Remarriage & Desires exposes the actual colors of our society and human nature; it is an open look at how desire and ambition may run amok under the garb of love and lifetime commitment.
