The journey of “Lost in Space” is officially coming to an end this December as Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer and premiere date for the final season. The third season of the sci-fi series will be released on December 1 on Netflix.

The trailer begins with Judy Robinson saying, "We've been in some hard spots before. But we've always made it through." "Yeah, with Mom and Dad there to help us. Who knows where they are now?" replies Penny. "I try not to think about them. Is that terrible? Because when I do, I wonder if there was something else I could've done to keep us all together," says Molly to John Robinson after being separated from the kids.

The trailer ends with Dr. Smith making her appearance as someone says, "I thought you were supposed to be dead." "I was supposed to be a lot of things. None of those worked out either," replies Dr. Smith.

The third season of “Lost in Space” was filmed between September 7, 2020, and January 11, 2021, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Season 2 of the series concluded on a cliffhanger, with the children of the Resolute failing to reach Alpha Centauri and becoming "Lost in Space" once more. Don West and the Robinsons have no idea how to catch up or where their children are. Dr. Smith appears to give her life to repair the magnetic field in the airlock that holds the robots but also crushes her spacesuit.

However, near the end of the episode, after Jupiter 2 has jumped through the rift, the Robot discovers a box holding Dr. Smith's scarf as well as a blue ball that she picked up earlier in the episode. So she might not be dead after all. Season 3 will most likely reveal the fate of the Children, as well as how the Robinson family will reconcile, and how Dr. Smith faked her death.

"Lost in Space" is created by Irwin Allen, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless. Maxwell Jenkins, Mina Sundwall, Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, Taylor Russell, Ignacio Serricchio, and Parker Posey are returning for season 3 in their respective roles.

Lost in Space is set 30 years in the future when space colonization is a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and chosen to start a new life in a better world. However, when the new colonists are abruptly thrown off-course en route to their new home, they must establish new alliances and work together to live in a frightening alien environment light-years away from their original location. Along with the Robinsons, two strangers are stranded together due to circumstance and a mutual knack for deception.
