Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the first trailer for ‘The Matrix: Resurrections’ with Keanu Reeves returning as Neo along with Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity from the previous films. The sequel to one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever created will be released on December 22 on HBO Max and theaters, worldwide.

From visionary filmmaker, Lana Wachowski comes “The Matrix Resurrections,” the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise that redefined a genre.

"Thomas... you seem particularly triggered right now. Can you tell me what happened?" asks Neil Patrick Harris's character to Keanu Reeves (Neo/Thomas) at the beginning of the trailer. "I've had dreams that weren't just dreams. Am I crazy?" counters Thomas/Neo. "We don't use that word in here," says Neil Patrick Harris.

The film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (the “Aquaman” franchise) Jessica Henwick (“Iron Fist,”), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“Quantico,”), Telma Hopkins (“Dead to Me,”), Jonathan Groff (“Hamilton,” TV’s “Mindhunter”), Neil Patrick Harris (“Gone Girl”), Christina Ricci (“The Lizzie Borden Chronicles”), Eréndira Ibarra (series “Sense8,” “Ingobernable”), Toby Onwumere (TV’s “Empire”), Max Riemelt (series “Sense8”), Brian J. Smith (“Treadstone”), and Jada Pinkett Smith ( “Gotham”).

Lana Wachowski directed the film, which was based on characters created by The Wachowskis and was written by Wachowski, David Mitchell, and Aleksander Hemon. Grant Hill, James McTeigue, and Lana Wachowski produced the movie. Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, Michael Salven, Jesse Ehrman, and Bruce Berman served as executive producers.

Below are the first look images revealed on Tuesday.

Director of photography Daniele Massaccesi and John Toll, production designers Hugh Bateup and Peter Walpole, editor Joseph Jett Sally, costume designer Lindsay Pugh, visual effects supervisor Dan Glass, and composers Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer were among Wachowski's creative team behind the scenes.

“The Matrix Resurrections” is presented by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and Venus Castina Productions. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film globally. It will be in theaters nationwide and on HBO Max via the Ad-Free plan on December 22, 2021; it will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical.
