‘The Old Guard 2’ Officially Wraps Up Filming, Will Release in 2023 on Netflix [Exclusive]

The Old Guard 2, the sequel to the hit Netflix movie has wrapped up filming this Thursday (September 22) in Rome, Italy. The movie started production on June 13 this year and was also filmed in Paris.

Henry Golding, who is the new cast member joining the sequel was the first to confirm the production wrap via his Insta post earlier this week. Netflix has confirmed that they will provide an update on Old Guard 2 this Saturday during its TUDUM event, which will include appearances from the cast members Charlize Theron, Luca Marinelli, Marwan Kenzari, KiKi Layne, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. 

We can expect “The Old Guard 2” to release sometime in Summer or Late 2023, but let's see if we get any update regarding its release during the TUDUM or not. We are also yet to hear regarding the plot of the second part, which has been kept under wraps. The ending of the first film teased something exciting.

Directed by Victoria Mahoney, Greg Rucka has penned the script for the sequel with David Ellison. Skydance's producers are Dana Goldberg and Don Granger; Denver's producers are Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix; and Marc Evans Productions' producers are Delilah and Marc Evans. Rucka will also serve as executive producer.

Charlize Theron will return as Andy, Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli will be back as Joe and Nicky in the sequel. KiKi Layne will also be back as Nile alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Veronica Ngo as Quynh. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding are the two new additions to the cast, but their characters are yet to be revealed.

The Old Guard is based on Greg Rucka's graphic novel series and follows a group of veteran soldiers from various periods of history who are now spending their lives as world-traveling mercenaries. These are not ordinary soldiers; these bands of warriors are immortal and have been here for hundreds or thousands of years. They've been through a lot, eventually dying in a gory fight before unexpectedly regaining consciousness, healing, and trying to figure out what brought them back.
