Watch “Doctor Strange vs Gargantos” in the First ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Official Clip

Marvel Studios has revealed the first official clip for the highly anticipated ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ which will release next week's Friday.

The clip shows Doctor Strange fighting with the multiversal creature Gargantos, who first attacked another multiversal traveler America Chavez. This one-minute clip is from the first 10 minutes and is also part of the opening scene of the film.

In this film, Gargantos is an enemy of America Chavez who is after her to use her powers to have total control over the Multiverse.

Xochitl Gomez is making her MCU debut as America Chavez in this film. In a recent interview with Marvel, she teased that the film opens with her “literally running for her life in the gap junction space between universes with Doctor Strange.”

In the MCU, America Chavez is a young girl outside of our universe, specifically the Utopian Parallel, a unique dimension unlike any we've ever seen. America is being pursued because of her ability to create star-shaped holes in spacetime, allowing her to travel through the Multiverse and into alternate realms. Since she initially fell into a universe that resembles ours, America has spent years traveling through the Multiverse, opening her first portal as a child. She's been across 72 universes during her unintentional journeys on a quest to regain control of her powers.

Speaking more extensively, Gomez shares, “America’s journey is about learning to trust others. My take is that America can always trust herself since she was alone for so long and she’s a survivor. Her journey is about allowing others to help her be what she’s capable of.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not America Chavez's origin story, according to Marvel Studios and Gomez. We're only scratching the surface of who this Multiversal traveler is, and future stories will hopefully reveal more about who America Chavez is.

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its limits further than ever before in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Travel into the unknown with Doctor Strange as he crosses the mind-bending and deadly various realities of the Multiverse with the help of both old and new mystical allies to fight a mysterious new enemy.

Directed by Sam Raimi, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ will release in theaters on May 6, 2022. In the film, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as doctor Christine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo. Elizabeth Olsen returns in the role of Wanda aka Scarlet Witch, Michael Stühlbarg, and Xochitl Gomez.
