‘White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake’ Gets Release Date & Trailer at Netflix

Netflix has confirmed the release date and released a trailer (watch above) for the Chinese animated movie, "White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake." The Mandarin-language animated movie, a sequel to the 2019 movie White Snake, will release on Netflix on December 1 in selected countries (including the USA, India, Singapore, UK).

In White Snake 2, Verta must all her abilities to find a way to escape from the illusion of modern Shura City of mortals, to rescue her elder sister Blanca from the demon-slaying monk Fahai.

The first movie followed the Chinese fable the Legend of the White Snake. The protagonist is a young adult white snake demon Blanca who loses her memories while disguising as a charming human lady and falls in love with a snake hunter. This strongly angers her young sister, Verta, the green snake demon.

The voice cast of the film includes Tang Xiaoxi as Verta the Green Snake, Wai Wai as the Masked Man, Wei Chao as Sima, Qiu Qiu as Sister Sun, Zhao Mingzhou as Niutou Sect leader, Zheng Xiaopu as Precious Jade Workshop Foxy Boss, Song Xuchen as Fahai, Zhang Biyu as the Spider Goblin, Zhang Zhe as Blanca the White Snake, Yang Tianxiang as Xu Xian, Lin Qiang as the Scholar, and Baomu Zhongyang as the Muscle Man.

The action-packed animated movie is directed by Amp Wong from a script written by Damao. Production companies include Light Chaser Animation, Tianjin Maoyan Weiying, Alibaba Pictures, Culture Media, and Bilibili.

White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake was released throughout China in theaters on 23 July 2021. The film earned a total of 200 million yuan ($30.86 million) in its first three days of release. Outside Chine, the film made $8 million.
